Role Description
Babcock DST is currently delivering contracts for the design and manufacture of the Weapon Handling and Launch System (WHLS) for the next generation of UK strategic deterrent submarines – the Dreadnought Class.

The Project Manager – Dreadnought Weapon Handling System (WHS) is responsible for successfully delivering the design and first of class manufacture of the WHS to cost, time and quality
The ideal candidate will have experience of DST submarine products and delivering complex design and manufacturing projects in the submarine industry, or related industry experience.
Key responsibilities of the Project Manager – Dreadnought WHS include:
• Delivery of the completed WHS design, ensuring that schedule, budget and quality requirements are met and that documentation deliverables to the customer are achieved on time.
• Delivery of the first of class WHS hardware to the customer, ensuring that schedule, budget and quality requirements are met.
• Leading an integrated project team to achieve project objectives.
• Maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Ensure detailed, integrated schedules are planned, resourced, monitored and controlled.
• Provide timely, accurate data to support internal and customer reports and governance.
• Developing clear scope from project requirements and formally agreeing that scope and the budgets and schedules for delivery.
• Tracking actual spend and progress against expected value earnt across all work packages.
• Ensuring accurate and realistic monthly Estimates to Complete (ETCs) are maintained and reported.
• Ensure production and supply chain activities are initiated in a timely fashion, that complete and accurate demand information is provided through requisitions and task order forms, and that activities are successfully monitored and controlled.
• Ensure production and supply chain scope and delivery expectations, including budgets and milestones, are clearly and formally communicated and delegated to accountable functional leads
• Manage and control changes to requirements, scope, schedule and cost.
• Ensure risks, changes and progress are escalated and reported in a timely manner


Required Experience /Qualification /Attributes:
•    Proven project management experience – ideally gained within an Engineering / Production / Manufacturing environment
•    Ideally have successfully completed formal project management certification such as APM PMQ (or equivalent / better).

Bristol is a vibrant city in south west England with a wide range of attractions, landmarks, events and shopping.  It has excellent transport links and is only 1.5 hours from London by train.

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
