Babcock Canada is looking for a Technical Service Manager to join our growing aviation business.  The successful candidate will be responsible to the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM) for the management of all maintenance, planning, logistics and procurement functions undertaken by the company while ensuring compliance with the Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), all documents referenced in it and with the Canadian Aviation Regulations.


In this role, you will:


  • Ensure that all scheduled maintenance requirements are properly forecasted, planned and executed in accordance with the MPM and related Maintenance Agreements.
  • Ensure the required maintenance instructions/task cards are regularly updated.
  • Oversee the production of a maintenance plan and forecast for long term and short term planning
  • Work in conjunction with the Chief Engineer to produce estimates for the proposed work plans
  • Ensure the Technical Surveillance of the tasks assigned to the department are in compliance with the Company Policy Manual (MPM)
  • Liaise with contracted companies holding the Approved Operator Certificate (AOC) in accordance with the related Maintenance Agreement
  • Provide business analytics for responsible departments including reporting on operations, trends, projected business needs and overall performance
  • Manage documents and procedures issued by the Planning departments
  • Create internal procedures as needed and submit to the PRM for approval
  • Work in conjunction with PRM to create and manage the budget of the Department
  • Manage the staff in the Planning, Logistics, Procurement and Stores departments
  • Ensure Technical and Quality Standards for all tasks assigned to the Department are met and maintained
  • Manage the contracts with contractors and services providers
  • Oversee stock management including parts, materials, tooling and equipment
  • Maintaining and storing all work packages, technical logs and workshop records when completed in conjunction with the Technical Records Department
  • Oversee production of material pre-load lists for scheduled maintenance including parts, tools and materials modification kits
  • Overview of parts and materials shipment with follow up as needed
  • Overview of components for repair/overhaul process and follow up as needed
  • Vendor Management including Approval, performance Review and KPI definition
  • Other duties as may be reasonably directed



As our ideal candidate you have:


  • 6+ years of experience in a similar role within the Aviation sector
  • Knowledge of commercial business practices
  • Proven communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Proven experience with documentation of contractual information
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse information while using critical thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to act professionally to internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience in Industrial Supply Chain processes would be considered and asset
  • Experience with computerized purchasing systems and ERP tools would be considered an asset
