About the role


Here at Babcock International, we operate a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock Trainers as well as training support. The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the support and drive to achieve successful deliver of all aspects of the contract in this new phase.


As the Catering Trainer, you will provide Apprenticeship delivery, assessment and quality assurance at the Defence College for Logistics, Policing and Administration, Worthy Down. To conduct quality assurance visits and briefs to naval units in the South East of England and deliver high quality assessments in line with company standards and contractual requirements.


Main Responsibilities


  • To provide the necessary support activities to Naval Service Logistician Trainees, to undertake a Standards Apprenticeship Programme (AP).
  • To provide underpinning knowledge delivery, for subject matter topics, required for AP, that is not covered on the delivered training course.
  • To provide support services, at Worthy Down, to meet output measurements for Naval Service Logistical branch Apprenticeship delivery.
  • Under the Supervisors direction, work closely with the Raleigh AP team, the RN and National Authorities/Agencies, to ensure a consistent and compliant Apprenticeship occupational awards delivery output.
  • Maintain Apprenticeship/award documentation to meet RN and external Authority/Agency quality control and contract requirements.
  • As directed by the Manager/Supervisor, conduct Apprenticeship/award quality control activities to ensure service outputs. (This may include travel and over-night stays).

What do I need to do the job?


  • Qualified to level 3 or equivalent, in a Catering Services competency, or have 5 years proven Logistical experience as an NCO or above within the Armed Services.
  • Experience and understanding of Apprenticeship Programmes and their delivery.
  • Hold a level 2 qualification in both Maths & English.
  • Hold a Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Minimum level 3 or equivalent (e.g. DTTT, CTTLs) – can gain once in post.


What else do I need to know?


You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
