Main purpose of role

 

The purpose of this role is to:


Provide the first line Engineering and Quality support, to the organisation, with responsibility for tasks assigned relating to Heavy Platforms. 


Ensure the timely and effective investigation and response to requests for technical / quality assistance, promoting Improvement opportunities.

 

The post holder is: 
•    Responsible for the delivery of Engineering Support to all internal customers, with a focus on support to Heavy Platforms.
•    Maintain a physical workshop presence and establish effective and efficient relations with Heavy Armour Operatives, Supervisors and Workshop Managers.   
•    Create, submit and progress TQNs to authority and review new or revised technical instruction to ensure its impact is correctly understood, enabled and embraced. 
•    Support the maintenance (currency and completeness) and availability of all legacy and new data and technical information required to support outputs, to include but not limited to AESPs, repair schemes, drawings, BoMs, ERP Technical information.
•    Provide support to engineering CCN responses, estimating and feasibility activities 
•    Support the Concession and Repair Scheme processes ensuring the provision of the required service level 
•    Support and implement new or amended engineering processes and procedures. Identify and promote and the support and remedy of non-compliance with legislative / contractual or industry best practice. 
•    Ensure effective communication to all internal stakeholders
•    Carry out corrective action activities and investigations as required 
•    Provide support to Quality Audits and Continuous Improvement activities
•    Provide support to innovation projects
•    Provide information and input to monthly reporting
•    Undertake required training to ensure you remain SQEP
•    Benchmark and share best practice
•    Undertake other appropriate tasks as directed by line management
•    Comply with all prescribed H&S requirements and challenge practice where it is contrary to H&S requirements or best practice

 

Required Skills/Education/Qualifications

 

•    Educated to Level 2 in National Qualification Framework (NQF) as a minimum (Intermediate apprenticeship, Level 2 NVQ, GCSE – Grade A* - C, O Level A – C, CSE Grade1) or equivalent workplace experience
•    Completed relevant technical or vocational qualification equivalent to NQF Level 3 (Advanced apprenticeship, level 3 NVQ)
•    Completed (or working towards) British Safety Council Level 2
•    Working Towards Professional Recognition with an Engineering Institute 
•    Completed (or working towards) lean management for Supervisors (internally delivered)
•    Competent PC user (MS Office, MS Outlook, SharePoint, ERP system)
