The Stores Operative role is based within our Metropolitan Police Service business area.

Babcock supports the UK’s largest police service, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).  Serving more than eight million people across one of the world’s most dynamic and diverse cities, the MPS keeps London safe for everyone. 
  
We service and maintain over 3,500 MPS vehicles from specialist workshops in Rainham, Park Royal and Woolwich. 

 

The role

The difference our new Stores Operative will make
As a Stores Operative you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working within the stores warehouse team you will support the production area. Interacting with managers, peers and production area colleagues.  Taking deliveries from external providers at the goods in area.

 

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for accurate execution of all stores tasks and support the operation of Stores Including the issuing of parts from stores to Authorised personnel by approved methods in a timely safe and professional manner. The accurate and timely booking out of parts. Maintenance of the security of stores by ensuring that all gates remain locked and un-authorised persons within the stores area are challenged and if necessary report to the Stores Manager. Referral of stock discrepancies and potential shortages to the Stores Manager and other relevant parties. Attend to requests from shop floor personnel in an appropriate timely and professional manner.

Essential experience

•    FLT C/balance essential
•    PC literate
•    Warehouse experience/order picking/stock control
•    Ability to manual handle safely
•    You should hold or have ability to obtain SC Level 2 Clearance.
