Senior Buyer
Salary - £35,000 Per Year

About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Senior Buyer.


The role will be a key part of the Procurement and Supply Chain team and focused on the day to day activities, working with a small team to procure equipment (parts for vehicle conversions), materials and services to time, cost and quality.


Networks and Equipment Support (N&ES) is a business unit within the Land Sector of Babcock International Group.  Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, N&ES works with a number of key clients.  Situated within N&ES, Babcock Vehicle Engineering Limited (BVE) is a leading provider of critical, complex engineering services which support national defence, save lives and protect communities.


In this role you will help generate significant value for the business by developing supply chains that align with the business needs, developing key supplier relationships to increase performance and by providing enabling elements that ensure on time delivery as well as reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services.


This role will involve the provision of supplier agreements that ensure Goods and/or Services for the Company at the best total acquisition cost, consistent with the specified technical, quality assurance and delivery requirements. 

An understanding of supply chain risk and mitigation and experience in creating innovate contracting mechanisms that drive value and performance in a collaborative environment will be crucial.



  •  Ensure all Contracts meet the Babcock commercial, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  •  Prepare and issue Invitations to Tender or requests for quotations.
  •  Negotiate Contract Terms and Conditions that motivate the required supplier performance
  •  Manage key suppliers, to provide dynamic supply solutions across the Babcock business.
  •  Lead in the transactional and administrational activities, ensuring data integrity.
  •  To work as a member of the Procurement and Supply Chain team in accordance with relevant corporate procedures and all regulatory and legislative requirements.


What do I need to do the role?

You’ll need to have Procurement experience i.e. raising PO’s contracts, supplier management, internal stakeholder management, Self-starter (managing small to mid-sized procurement projects).

If you have automotive parts buying experience and MCIPS, this would be advantageous but not essential..


What else do I need to know?
• The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
