In this role, you will:

 

  • Design and develop solutions with a Mechanical / Structural focus for the integration of new sub-systems / components into existing systems.
  • Be responsible for the production of Technical drawings and specifications to support the implementation of Engineering Changes on board Victoria Class Submarines.
  • Undertake 3D modelling to support spatial integration.
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, weld information sheets, and redlined drawings.
  • Specify weld types/sizes, and associated examination methods in accordance with contracted requirements with support of senior staff.
  • Develop knowledge of non-destructive testing / welding techniques and applications.
  • Provide novel solutions to technical problems.
  • Conduct onsite inspections/surveys under supervision.
  • Work closely with other Drawing Office disciplines to ensure coherency between deliverables.
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure design for manufacture / installation.
  • Maintain and prepare project documents as applicable.
  • Conduct other duties as necessary.

 

As our ideal candidate, you:

 

  • Hold a minimum of a College Technologist Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Have a minimum of four years of experience in Mechanical Drawing and Design (knowledge of welding and non-destructive testing an asset).
  • Possess the ability and aptitude to problem solve technical issues.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Have experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (knowledge in AutoCAD and SolidWorks an asset).
  • Have installation / integration design experience (an asset).
  • Are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
