In this role, you will:

 

  • Be responsible for the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports under your supervision.
  • Lead a team of three or more Engineering Designers or co-operative students through the development of structural elements of Engineering Change Installation Packages within Babcock Canada’s Marine Design Drawing Office.
  • Lead the development of 3D CAD models in support of spatial integration for installation design.
  • Lead production drawings through established checking and approval processes.
  • Lead the development of written specifications used for Planning, Estimating, and Production activities.
  • Specify and ensure mapping between technical requirements and contracted deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to build specifications and contracted standards is maintained throughout design process.
  • Ensure drawing configuration control is maintained throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Mentor Junior Babcock Canada staff and co-operative students within the structural area of expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with the Mechanical and Electrical disciplines within the Marine Design and Drawing Office.
  • Maintain project documents as applicable.
  • Provide solutions to technical problems.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to ensure on-site support during design implementation.
  • Conduct onsite inspections/surveys as necessary.
  • Other duties as necessary.

 

As our ideal candidate,

 

  • You hold a minimum of a College Technologist Diploma in a relevant field and are eligible to be certified as a AScT by ASTTCB
  • You have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in design of Marine Structures (in the last 8 years)
  • You have a minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience (in the last 4 years) working with a team of 3 or more.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
