In this role, you will:


  • Lead a quality support team within an integrated delivery team including Project Management, Planning Production, Engineering and Commissioning elements
  • Be responsible for the quality of repair and overhaul work on a submarine’s many auxiliary systems which include aspects of hydraulics, pneumatics, DC and AC electrical, water systems (domestic supply, equipment cooling, ballast control), and heating and cooling. 
  • Have the mandate to ensure quality and efficiency throughout the many stages and processes of delivering complex industrial repair and overhaul projects from work planning to commissioning and final delivery
  • Provide leadership to streamline processes and interfaces while transitioning to a new Enterprise Resource Planning system
  • Provide effective training and mentoring to the workforce and supervisors to ensure that procedures are being followed and that objective quality evidence is being generated with full accuracy and timeliness, including the additional requirements for First Level systems
  • Make recommendations on work definition and work structure that will enable consistent and efficient execution of that work, and visibility/traceability against requirements throughout the process
  • Conduct spot checks and audits across the delivery process lifecycle to verify effectiveness or proactively identify areas for improvement
  • Capture Learning from Experience for continual improvement initiatives including schedule adherence and be a driving force in those improvements
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance section focussed on broader quality assurance and the Material Certification section focussed on unique submarine technical licensing requirements 


As our ideal candidate you bring,


  • A minimum 10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated effective leadership of teams
  • A strong ability to communicate orally and in writing to all levels of the business
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in data collection, analysis, and presentation 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date
  • Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance


  • Experience as a lead auditor and may have qualification under the International Standardization Organization (ISO), American Society for Quality (ASQ), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) AS9000, or equivalent (considered a strong asset)   
  • Experience in industrial activities including repair and maintenance of ships, submarines, aircraft, or heavy manufacturing (considered a strong asset)
  • A degree, Project Management experience and/or qualifications, or Certification as a Supply Chain Management Professional (considered an asset)
  • Experience and/or qualifications in Business Analysis, Lean, Agile, 6 Sigma or equivalent (considered an asset)
