In this role, you will:

 

  • Report directly to the project controls manager (based in Victoria)
  • Role based in Ottawa with travel requirements to Victoria, Halifax and Quebec
  • Provide project control services for production and design-based projects under the VISSC umbrella contract:
    • Cost, scope and change management
    • Schedule adherence and earned value management
  • Develop and maintain suite of project control metrics and reports
  • Contribute to Project Control process improvements
  • Provide guidance and leadership to team members
  • Responsible for managing, and keeping alignment between schedule, progress, cost, planning and change management databases
  • Develop and provide input into the Project Start Up Plan
  • Develop and provide input into the Annual Operating Plan
  • Implementing best practice Project Controls in accordance with Babcock procedures and commercial arrangements
  • Manage and administer contractual changes
  • Produce monthly project Estimate at Completion (EAC) and ad-hoc cost reporting requirements
  • Facilitate EAC reviews and comprehensive variance analysis 
  • Produce ad-hoc forecasts and revised budgets as requested
  • Identification of trends and developing mitigations to address baseline variances
  • Support and facilitate project close out reporting requirements
  • Ensure production of accurate project, programme and operational reporting in the required format and in accordance with required deadlines
  • Provide accurate and effective management information to support KPI reporting
  • Liaise with Babcock Finance to ensure all corporate financial reporting needs are supported and met by operations
  • Support Babcock Canada in providing timely information to meet regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies
  • Liaise with operational management to provide project control support
  • Must effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Attend customer and supplier meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as necessary

 

As our ideal candidate,

 

  • You hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in an Accounting, Finance, Construction Economics, Engineering or related discipline
  • Preferred post secondary qualifications as follows; Certified Cost Engineer (AACE's CCC/ CCE) Professional Quantity Surveyor (CIQS/RICS), and/or Project Management Professional credential (PMP) designation or equivalent
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a lead project control role
  • You have a minimum of 2 years’ experience leading a team
  • You have a strong understanding of project controls and project management processes
  • You have intermediate to advanced Excel skills, good knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems (experience utilizing IFS is an asset)
  • You are able to plan, prioritise and deliver to firm deadlines
  • You are able to create and maintain strong relationships with key internal customers and stakeholders
  • You have exceptional attention to detail
  • You are eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearances
