In this role, you will:

  • Supervise a team responsible for completing the Verification and Acceptance of all Testing and Maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine weapon and combat systems.
  • Determine the Test Requirements and Maintenance Activities required during Extended Docking and In-Service Submarine Work Periods and produce Test Form Indexes to identify contractual requirements that must be satisfied for each project, and Test Memoranda to divide the work period into achievable milestones in the project.
  • Oversee the conduct of significant test events to ensure standards are maintained and results accurately captured.
  • Review Test Documents to Authorize them for use and subsequently evaluate the results to verify they meet design performance standards and are safe for operations at sea for various Victoria Class Submarine weapon and combat systems.
  • Oversee the Safe Release of work for the weapons and combat sections.
  • Identify risks and opportunities during the course of testing and maintenance.
  • Be responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety of those temporarily assigned to be under your supervision.

 

The ideal candidate brings:

  • 10 years of experience testing or commissioning naval combat and/or marine electronic systems.
  • A post-secondary education in a relevant field, preference for a technical /engineering discipline.
  • Possess a current CET/AScT professional designation/qualification or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal in order to maintain close liaisons with Customer, Engineering, Project Management and Production staff.
  • Expert level knowledge in naval combat systems.
  • Strong working knowledge in a variety of other related technologies is considered an asset:
    • Field functional system testing;
    • Fibre optic applications, cable characteristics, connectors, termination, inspection and testing
    • Uninterrupted power supplies and switching
    • New construction commissioning or retro-commissioning
    • Detailed knowledge of safety requirements for Group Lockout as described by WorkSafeBC or equivalent Canadian Workers Compensation Legislation
  • Naval vessel experience would be considered a strong asset.
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
