In this role, you will:

  • Lead & co-ordinate interdisciplinary teams to deliver planning, production, engineering, commissioning, and subcontract work scopes to execute highly complex projects
  • Responsible for preparing and managing marine/waterfront project plans to ensure life cycle delivery in accordance with Babcock’s contractual obligations are performed at the highest level of standard while minimizing risk and maximizing profitability
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development of proposals, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Emergent Work Reports amongst engineering, planning, cost control, commissioning, quality and operation teams
  • Manage and control Engineering Design Change process to ensure governance and configuration control are enabled and executed in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Responsible for the delivery of engineering changes, design and build of supporting equipment and in-service maintenance activities
  • Experience in maintaining and growing close interface regimes with production and support groups including, system engineering, marine drawing design office, supply chain, technical engineering, project management office, change management and ensuring scheduling and priorities are met
  • Utilizing project execution control methodology, leading teams to develop daily and weekly workface plans, and detailed project planning schedules
  • Coordinate with Project Management to integrate detailed planning schedules into project master schedule, identify schedule risks, and implement recovery plans when required
  • Co-ordinate Babcock sub-contract activities for the Extended Docked Work Period (EDWP) of HMCS Victoria
  • Ensure quality controls and processes are being implemented and provide support to quality control and assurance audits
  • Participate in project metric and performance monitoring systems and provide feedback on variances and achievements
  • Provide inputs and support to cost and schedule forecasting efforts
  • Support Change Management processes and identify and manage operational project risks for assigned work scope
  • Carry out lessons learned at key points throughout the EDWP
  • Implement a people-first leadership strategy, with a focus on embedding a culture of trust, teamwork, empowerment, and accountability
  • Challenge existing processes and procedures and identify opportunities for improvements for the successful delivery of the project

 

The ideal candidate brings:

  • A minimum 5 years of experience in a Project Leadership role or similar with a proven track record of managing interdisciplinary teams in the marine defence sector
  • A university or equivalent post-secondary education in Project Management
  • Advanced management training courses considered an asset
  • PMP Certification to PMI, or be actively working towards this certification within eighteen months of attaining this role
  • Mandatory formal experience in the field of Marine Engineering or naval environment
  • Experience in managing projects with budgets > $5M
  • Proven knowledge of sub-sea structures and their design requirements
  • Broad technical experience with a focus on implementing Engineering Changes is an asset
  • Submarine experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in a unionized labour environment and multiple subcontracts is considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills that can provide relevant messaging to various levels of the organization
  • Ability to build relationships, empower individuals and establish collaborative working environments
  • Excellent written, verbal, electronic reporting, and data communication skills.
  • Proof of fully vaccinated status against COVID-19, meaning receipt of the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to the expected start date
  • Eligible for a Canadian NATO Secret Security Clearance and ITAR

Security

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary from $98,000 -$112,00 per annum and is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, per company policy.
