In this role, you will:


  • Be responsible for quality assurance programs in support of the Marine and Engineering Divisions (the ‘client group’)
  • Ensure all departments within your client group receive effective quality assurance support and maintain consistently high quality output of services and deliverables that meet regulatory and customer requirements
  • Ensure all client group contracts and projects receive the requisite quality assurance support
  • Work closely with the marine subcontract quality manager who performs a complementary role, focussed on subcontractor quality and performance
  • Assist with oversight, maintenance, and improvement of the company’s management systems. This includes:
    • Full integration between high level processes;
    • Shifting processes toward multi-contract applicability where appropriate;
    • Increasing clear line of sight from business unit objectives down to each employee such that their impact on achieving objectives is readily apparent;
    • Challenge and improve the business unit’s key performance indicators and assist in integrating these within the measures and controls managed by the Business Operations team; and,
    • Drive the reduction of duplication and low value added activities or processes
  • Drive continuous improvement actions to achieve schedule adherence of complex projects, and other improvements as identified by the business
  • Be responsive to the quality assurance manager (Corporate) for the performance of our management system within your client group including our continued registration under ISO 9001:2015
  • Be responsive to the occupational health, safety and environment manager for support of this function within the client group


As our ideal candidate you,


  • Have a minimum 10 years of experience in quality assurance
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a lead auditor and may have qualification under the International Standardization Organization (ISO), American Society for Quality (ASQ), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) AS9000, or equivalent
  • Must be eligible for certification as a Quality Professional under the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA), American Society for Quality (ASQ), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) AS9000, or equivalent within six months of start of employment
  • Have experience in industrial activities including repair and maintenance of ships and submarines, or heavy manufacturing (considered a strong asset)
  • Must have demonstrated effective leadership of teams
  • Must have a strong ability to communicate orally and in writing to all levels of the business
  • Must be able to demonstrate well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be proficient in data collection, analysis and presentation
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree and project management experience and/or qualifications, or certification as a supply chain management professional (considered an asset)
  • Have experience and/or qualifications in business analysis, Lean, Agile, 6 Sigma or equivalent (considered an asset)
  • You must be eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
