In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership and direction to a large and dispersed Marine Supply Chain Team, centered in Victoria, with operations and staff in Ottawa and Halifax, by
    • Setting clear priorities to achieve the key objectives for procurement, subcontracting and warehouse functions
    • Developing plans to delivery agreed financial targets for Supply Chain function.
    • Developing the functional capability through the attainment of Group and Divisional procurement and supply chain standards
    • Managing capacity planning across the Marine Supply Chain team

 

  • Operate within a fast-paced operationally focused environment supporting the Victoria Class Submarine program

 

  • Build effective Supplier relationships that are aligned to our strategy, by
    • Developing relationships with key internal & external stakeholders to share process improvement across the supply chain function and the wider business as required          
    • Supplier negotiation and supplier development to establish and eliminate waste
    • Working with internal stakeholders to improve the quality of demand placed on the Supply Chain and align this with a realistic expectation of performance against that demand signal
    • Developing sourcing strategies across direct and indirect categories that will support the contractual performance of the business, ITBs and deliver value through a long-term pipeline of savings opportunities
  • Continual development of robust commercial framework of supplier agreements to provide cost certainty, security of supply and mitigate risk across the categories of spend
  • Establish governance and control that drives value, cost and manages risk
  • Supplier risk management & risk mitigation, employing pre-audit sourcing recommendations as required
  • Lead implementation of best practice principles in safety, compliance and continuity

 

 

The ideal candidate brings:

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ senior level experience of supply chain management with experience in managing a large and dispersed team across Canada, including:
    • Procurement, subcontracts & warehousing
    • Strategic sourcing
    • Requirement planning & forecasting, including Advance Material Requirements (AMR) through to shipyard production requirements.
    • Managing in marine or naval sectors, including experience with DND contracts.
  • A degree/diploma in a related field, or equivalent combination of qualification and related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Project planning and production operations, with demonstrable project delivery
    • Results oriented problem solver experience
  • Ability to develop long term strategic and operational plans, including:
    • Successful leadership of transformation and continuous improvement programmes
    • Drive and commitment to deliver strategy across multiple sites
  • Team leadership, relationship-building, and people management experience essential, including:
    • Excellent communication skills, including DnD communications and contract management experience, and the ability to influence in a matrix environment
    • Experienced in ERP systems (IFS or SAP)
    • Financial forecasting and budgets management
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
