We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Designer - Electrical based in our Victoria, BC office. This is a full-time permanent position (37.5 hours per week) and will report to the Technical Lead, Electrical.


The principal tasks and responsibilities include:


  • Design electrical components and associated electrical systems to meet all contracted requirements for Victoria Class Submarines
  • Specify commercially available components for use in marine environments
  • Create 2D manufacturing and installation / removal drawings to be used by production and/or subcontractors
  • Drawings will include cabling diagrams, schematic diagrams, instrumentation diagrams, cable data sheets, equipment connection diagrams, cable schedules, marker plate and warning tallies
  • Work through an established drawing, checking, and approval processes under the oversight of senior technical staff
  • Develop cable management methods to ensure appropriate electromagnetic compatibility/interference (EMC) separation is achieved
  • Provide solutions to technical problems (within level of competence)
  • Work closely with other drawing office disciplines to ensure coherency between deliverables
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure design for manufacturing
  • Conduct onsite inspections/surveys as necessary
  • Maintain and prepare project documents as applicable
  • Other duties as necessary


Job qualifications and requirements include:


  • Technologist diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution or a 1 year certificate applicable to the job
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Marine industry experience an asset
  • EMC experience an asset
  • Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
