Babcock is on the hunt for a driven Bid Writer to work with us to build our business, and their career. The role will demand collaborative working alongside solid, demonstrable experience across the Business Winning Lifecycle.


The role will focus on working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to storyboard, draft, and finalise quality written responses and submission documents across a range of strategic, technical, and complex bids. The Bid Writer will play a pivotal role in ensuring customer value is articulated in compelling and persuasive ways that clearly differentiate propositions and maximise scoring against customer evaluation criteria.


Your main responsibilities as a Bid Writer will involve:

  • Understanding and ability to apply Babcock Winning Business Methodology to Bid Writing assignments
  • Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create compelling bid content that effectively communicates win themes
  • Ensure the compelling and persuasive structuring of proposals, that are compliant against the customers deliverables and evaluation criteria
  • Working as part of the business winning team to capture content on shared knowledge libraries and improve processes and guidance
  • An ability to develop technical solutions that are commercially considered and deliver our customers goals
  • Reviewing competitive tender documentation to help clarify written bid requirements.
  • Supporting storyboarding sessions and developing technical response structures that reflect individual tender requirements 
  • Providing editing and proofreading support to SMEs and wider tender teams, ensuring that all written content aligns with Babcock guidance
  • Supporting the completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Tender Responses within the required timescales


Skills and attributes

  • Proven capacity to write clear, concise, and compelling content on complex subject matters
  •  Ability to quickly and effectively analyse new information and identify the key points
  • Close attention to detail and demonstrable editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships
  • Proficiency in MS Office. Capability in Adobe Acrobat would be beneficial


Education and qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience of effective proposal writing on large, complex, and strategic bids
  • Experience with the Shipley process (or similar)
  • Experience handling the Bid Life Cycle 
  • APMP qualifications are beneficial
