Marine Engineering & Systems – Type 31
The Systems Integration Manager role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems.
Marine Engineering & Systems (MES) business unit is expanding rapidly with complex, high-profile defence projects including Type 31 Frigate Design & Build Programme. Therefore, we are looking to grow our existing team, building on a well-established foundation of over 800 staff across the UK.
The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment. The Project is the pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy and will be delivered in an innovative manner at pace with all 5 ships to be in-service by Dec 2028.
The role
The difference our new Systems Integration Manager will make:
As a Systems Integration Manager, you will have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being responsible for the management of the systems installation and completion into Commissioning Team in accordance with the ITR acceptance strategy and criteria.
Day-to-day, you will participate and drive the systems installation strategy, prioritising all requirements. You will be responsible for programme management of all enabling aspects to enable the delivery of the Wholeship Mission Systems installation and support the 12 week lookahead creation process to ensure all systems requirements and content are visible within the Integrated Project Schedule, while owning and maintaining all elements feeding into the Project Planning Team.
You will be responsible for the control and integration of multi-discipline tasks and work packages required to deliver the installation. You will be the point of contact for Thales, managing all production project requirements and you will be in charge of stakeholder management, chairing daily/weekly meetings, driving completions and forecasting, taking corrective actions where required.

Essential experience
- Relevant shipbuilding experience working in a similar service provider environment
- Degree or significant and relevant experience
- Knowledge of previous mission systems installations
- Experience working within environment with energised equipment, aware of isolation and safe systems of work requirements
- The ability to obtain Security Clearance and ITAR Clearance
