About the role 
Babcock, the Aerospace and Defence Company, has been awarded a contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver its newest fleet of warships. The Type 31 general-purpose frigate programme will provide the UK with a fleet of five ships.

The frigates will be assembled at Babcock's Rosyth facility, and involve supply chains throughout the UK, in line with the UK's national shipbuilding strategy.

Babcock's Arrowhead 140 frigate is a capable, adaptable and technology-enabled global ship with a proven design and build strategy.

To support the delivery of this contract, we are currently recruiting for multiple Procurement Managers; to be responsible for leading the end-to-end supply chain management process, including strategic supplier sourcing, contract negotiation and ongoing supplier relationship management
Your key deliverables will include:

  • Co-ordinate the process for tendering of work by suppliers, ensure tender documents are prepared and dispatched to companies and organisations invited to tender, and that subsequent submissions are handled professionally until the order is placed
  • Ensure that a programme of supplier and sourcing reviews is carried out, that suppliers are monitored and managed and where appropriate alternative sources are identified that are to the further benefit of the business
  • Maintain and build business relationships with suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are achieved and that favourable terms can be agreed with the supplier to suit business needs
  • Work with suppliers to identify opportunities to improve the level of services or reduce the cost of items purchased
  • Lead and develop a small team of Buyers
  • Review team performance to ensure that all work is completed within agreed timescales, such that work is distributed across staff effectively and service levels are achieved



What do I need to do the role?

  • Experienced in Procurement and Supply Chain management – essential
  • Background in Engineering, Construction or Defence sectors – desirable
  • MCIPS qualification - desirable
  • Working knowledge of MoD contract terms - desirable

  • Permanent role
  • Salary up to £53,000 per annum (dependant on experience)
  • Based at Rosyth Dockyard in Fife, Scotland
