Marine Engineering & Systems – T31

The Outfitter (Permanent) role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems – T31 business area

Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supporting exports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers.

The role

The difference our new Outfitter (Permanent) will make

As an Outfitter (Permanent)you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Carrying-out planned installations, maintenance and removals of temporary and fixed systems and equipment to support the build assembly and outfitting of Naval Platforms.

Day to day, you’ll manufacture and installation of HVAC ducting, including rectangular vent, Spiro duct and fabric, install fixtures and fittings throughout naval platforms such as, but not limited to: office furniture, bookcases and shelving, fixed handrails, stowage’s and storage solutions, securing of COTS equipment, cap and coat hooks, cabin fixtures and furniture and install in line with production output materials such as compartment layouts and detailed dimensional instructions.

Essential experience

•    A recognised apprenticeship
•    Recent and relevant experience working in a similar service provider environment. 
•    Experience working within environment with energised equipment, aware of isolation & safe systems of work requirements.
•    Obtain or have the ability to obtain SC Clearance
