About the role

Here at Babcock International Group in Rosyth, we are currently looking for a HR Advisor to join us and be involved in HR Project work. We aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.

The purpose of this role is to apply HR project and funding experience in relation to developing, presenting and tracking business cases on behalf of Energy & Marine Rosyth (e.g. supporting funding arrangements and HR agenda delivery). This position will work closely with business areas, Learning and Development and HR Business Partners to drive success. The focus is to ensure project delivery in relation to developing; employee capability, business competence thus resulting in business growth and sustainability.

The role reports directly into a HR Manager and indirect to the L&D Manager. Working closely with the business and L&D Management and HR/ L&D Business Partners on strategic growth opportunities within the business. Liaison will regularly occur with Scottish Enterprise, Skills Development Scotland and other external partners in relation to funding opportunities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop key business cases and initiatives in relation to headcount, learning solution and cost.
  • Ensure alignment and awareness of the overall People and Business Strategy and recognition of this when development business case objectives.
  • Provide advice on funding and project arrangements and work with procurement and learning and development to identify key suppliers in relation to solution delivery.
  • Tracking of all projects in relation to funding arrangements and ensure risks are managed including management of change. Ensure project status is communicated to appropriate stakeholders and documented in accordance with quality and audit standards (Inclusive of meeting documentation and tracking of actions for relevant meetings).
  • Drive the roll-out of approved business cases taking into account employee, management and union engagement.
  • Evaluate the value proposition and payback of all projects/ business cases evidencing measurable difference.
  • Working closely with Finance to ensure budget is on track including submissions to relevant funding supplier/s to ensure spend is approved, coordinated and drawn down.
  • Apply specialist expertise when coordinating the supporting processes/ approaches reflecting on best practice ensuring value is added to the business.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to be degree qualified in HR/ business related subject (or working towards) and have an MCIPD qualification/ working towards or equivalent experience

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Project management/ coordination experience
  • HR generalist experience within a commercial complex environment
  • Learning and development experience
  • Stakeholder engagement experience and professional communication skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
