The role
As a Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer you'll work within the New Product Development (NPD) Team to develop and deliver commercially viable products for the global shipping industry. Our ecoCO2® product, the world’s first cargo handling and reliquefaction solution for a low pressure cargo tank system, has just secured the world’s first contract for a CO2 ship.  
 
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for performing / preparing Calculations, Data Sheets, Specifications, Schedules and Drawings as required and coordinating with other business departments to achieve the required project objectives and deliverables schedules. Including, but not restricted to the following:

 

  • Motors, pressure/temperature/level/flow etc instrumentation, gauge boards, junction boxes, control panels, starter panels, rotating machinery packages, cables/glands.
  • Schedules - Instrument, cable, power/utilities,
  • Technical drawings - Instrument and control panels, power/control/instrumentation schematics and wiring diagrams, hazardous/safe area plans.
  • Control system architecture, communication links with third party equipment.
  • Development of PLC & HMI software for cargo control systems.
  • Integration of the cargo control system with the wider ship control network.

 

The Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer role is full-time, based at Rosyth and offers hybrid working with 2-days on site and 3-days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer

  • Process industry experience (preferably marine) but would consider experience from other industries such as water, wastewater, power, pharmaceutical and drinks or food industry.
  •  Control or Instrumentation, or Electrical experience* working on the development of new products with focus on front end engineering design and the layout of E&I control panels. 
  • Excellent knowledge and design experience of motor control centres (MCCs) which include soft starters and variable frequency drives.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with electrical systems rated up to and including 6.6kV. 
  • Proven track record on PLC & HMI programming.

 

*We offer full support and training in all areas of Control, Instrumentation and Electrical design so you won't need to have experience in all three subjects. Qualifications for the Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (generally Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering) or a HNC / HND with substantial experience. 
  • A member of a relevant professional institution (typically IET) with the ability to achieve EngTech or above. 

 

The successful candidate must be able to achieve basic security clearance level for this role.
