Job Title: Apprentice and Technical Trainer - BMW

Location: Reading

Purpose of role:   

To deliver, design, develop and maintain training in support of Babcock training operations to achieve agreed training targets, predominately working in Apprentice training. To proactively identify and implement opportunities to add value to the customer and our business. To work as part of the Academy team to ensure high levels of service across the Academy as a whole are maintained. To be prepared to work across all training design and delivery facets of the Academy and the wider Babcock.
 

Financial:

  • Demonstrate consideration for cost of design and delivery of training when carrying out role

 

Non-Financial:

  • Schedule course delivery to achieve utilisation targets
  • Provide timely reporting data required for contract SLA / KPIs and Babcock data requirements
  • Ensure that training design delivery and attendance meet contract SLA
  • Supporting other Academy tasks as appropriate

 

Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:

  • To deliver, design, develop and maintain training programmes
  • Liaise in partnership with the Customer and awarding body requirements to identify training needs within the BMW Network
  • Respond to changing customer needs by providing timely and effective training solutions
  • Support the Academy team in meeting Babcock objectives, KPIs and contract SLAs

 

Additional Key Accountabilities:

  • Work in partnership with assessor/coaches, to deliver effective training
  • Proactively market courses/events to potential delegates and Retailers
  • Ensure that the relevant qualifications and certificates are produced and sent to delegates working with the Academy Training Advisor to achieve this
  • Work with your line manager and Central Resources team to annually plan and schedule courses/events in line with BMW requirements
  • Working with manager, achieve and maintain relevant Accreditation Centre status
  • Work with your line manager to develop and review course materials where appropriate
  • Deliver in-Retailer and regional training as appropriate
  • Support your line manager with Retailer communications and ensure that they are distributed appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Liaise with other trainers and your line manager to ensure holiday cover for each other
  • Proactively maintain CPD levels across training disciplines
  • Develop and review course materials where appropriate
  • Ensure H&S requirements are considered and maintained in the delivery of all programmes
  • Provide occasional overnight safeguarding support at the Academy for apprentice training groups
  • Protecting assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998

  • Delivery of relevant courses in order to meet pre-agreed targets
  • Increase Knowledge levels of all delegates.
  • Provide delegates with the opportunity to test and benchmark their understanding
  • Demonstrate to delegates appropriate brand behaviour
  • Allow delegates the opportunity to re-connect with the brand and build enthusiasm
  • Demonstrate work with accelerated and experiential learning techniques
  • Ability to speak knowledgeably about content objectives
  • Identify where course and consultant spend can be reduced to maximise department efficiencies
  • Ensure course delivery meets all learning styles and teaching methods

 

 

Person Specification

 

Key Technical Skills:

  • Motor industry knowledge and practical experience
  • Relevant SME qualifications
  • Literacy and PC skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft standard packages, e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Company/Industry Knowledge Experience:

  • Training instructor / training and development background
  • Experience in an automotive retailer environment, relevant to SMA
  • Experience in project delivery from conception to implementation
  • Previous training design
  • Relevant automotive retailer systems and process knowledge

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant SME qualification/Apprenticeship
  • GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above in English language and Mathematics
  • Training delivery/design qualification desirable
