About the role


Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit an Operations and Workshop Manager to join the team working as part of our contract with the Metropolitan Police service.


As an Operations and Workshop Manager you will be required to lead, inspire, support and manage two of the workshops, enabling the teams to deliver the required outputs efficiently and safely. A strong focus on Health & Safety is key to in this role, you will ensure the workshops comply with all internal procedures and quality measures and ensure compliance works within the H&S frameworks.  


You will be responsible for performance against the key KPIs linking to our priority 1, 2 and 3 fleet, and be accountable for minimising the vehicle off road through managing the throughput of the workshop. You will have the overall responsibility for the leadership of the workshop teams, making sure they are structured for success. 


As well as this you will manage costs within the area of responsibility in line with the budget and agreed operating ratios, and ensure all individual and team training needs are recognised and addressed to create and develop a high performing flexible workshop team through effective management. 


What do I need to do the role?

You will be able to demonstrate previous operations management experience as well as being able to drive and motivate a team. Experience of fleet management operations in an automotive or engineering environment would be desirable however; we can consider candidates from other backgrounds, however working in an environment where driving change is a key component is essential. 



•    Bachelor's degree or technical qualfication in a related subject (or equivalent) 
•    Project Manager qualification e.g. Prince2 or APM (Desirable)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
