Marine Systems Senior Support Engineer

 

Overview

 

To manage the capability of 24/7 entry point triage for Queen Elizabeth and Type 45 Class Marine System technical reactive engineering demands.  This includes assuring the correct of handling of engineering issues aligned to engineering governance as well as the provision of technical assistance and advice. 

 

Accountabilities

 

To MSSP Technical Support Manager (Portsmouth).

 

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead marine system technical assistance in support of reactive engineering demands (Operational Defects (OPDEFs), unintentional deviations from design intent (S2022s), maintenance concessions and technical queries).
  • Evaluate reactive engineering technical issues and, through the application of systems engineering principles, make technical recommendations.
  • Provide technical advice including developed action plans aligned to MSSP engineering governance and delegations.
  • Establish and maintain an out of hours service capable of escalating a technical query or issue in proportion to the UK operational imperative.
  • Provide management information as required.
  • Identify opportunities and lead improvements to the MSSP reactive engineering service.
  • Comply with Company safety rules and regulations or local procedures and any Company initiatives to improve safety.

 

Interfaces

 

  • The MSSP Systems Technical Authority (Chief Engineering Teams) in delivery of engineering outputs.
  • The MSSP Technical Service for line management and adherence to engineering processes
  • The Type 45 and QEC Class Warship Technical Authorities and Ships Staff as part of enterprise engineering processes.
  • Across the Team Assure organisation, OEMs and other stakeholders.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Minimum of HNC in engineering discipline or professionally registered to EngTech or an equivalent experience demonstrating no less than 5 years in a maritime technical delivery role
  • (Desirable) Experience in Operating, Maintaining, Diagnosing and Repairing (ODMR) complex warships.
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative manner across a multi-disciplinary team.

Security Information

 

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.

The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.  This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
