Accountancy Apprenticeship – AAT Level 3 – Babcock International

Portsmouth

37.5 hours a week – Standard working hours are 7.5 hours per day worked between 7.30 – 17.30 Mon – Fri with either 30 minutes or an hour for lunch.

Responsibilities

     Master Data and Month End Closure:

  • Support the maintenance of the SAP Enterprise Structure, ensuring the maintenance of the Chart of Accounts, Cost and Profit Centres, Customer and Vendor Master Data.
  • Time administrator, recording time on behalf of others, ensuring no missing time
  • Dealing with Contingent worker invoice queries
  • Act as custodian of the SAP master data and make changes only with appropriate authorisation
  • Have awareness of the SLA’s and implications of any delays in updating the master data especially at critical times such as financial month end.
  • Assisting with the Financial ‘Closing Cockpit’ at month-ends.
  • Work with SAP Applications Support team to resolve queries
  • Assist as and when required in training business colleagues on effective usage of SAP

 

    Projects/ Business Analyst

  • Ensure compliance and governance of SSC Processes.
  • Continual improvement review of SSC Business Processes across Finance, HR and Procurement.
  • Any other ad-hoc projects.

  • Should have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work well on cross functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks.
  • Will be a Self-starter and  able to work on own initiative

  • Good attention to detail
  • Diligent and dependable, willing to work flexible hours to ensure deadlines (month end reporting) is met.
  • AAT level 2
  • Have good verbal and written communications skills.
  •   The ability to work accurately and follow procedures in a timely manner
  • Proven experience of managing a number of deliverables to tight deadlines
  • Proven experience of working in a team
  • Able to manage workloads and priorities within tight deadlines especially at financial month ends 
    Qualifications Required
  • English and Maths GCSE 9/4 or A/C or Functional Skills English and Maths Level 2

 

Apprenticeship/Next Steps

Apprentices are independently assessed at the end of their programme to achieve the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at a Pass or Distinction grade.      

  • Synoptic Test (3 Hours on a College PC – 40%) Covering: IT Systems/Processes, Standards, Reporting, Analysis, Comms, Problem Solving, Quality and Accountability within a Financial Accounting Environment
  • A portfolio and reflective discussion (60%) showing evidence of knowledge, skills and behaviours while within the workplace had met required standards.
  • Standard Level 2 and Level 3 AAT Exams after each individual Units

Apprentices that do not have a Level 2 in Bookkeeping will need to complete this alongside their apprenticeship, Highbury offer this for free and It will add 5 months to your study.

Apprentices who complete this programme can progress to a Level 4 qualification including a Level 4 apprenticeship or into employment or higher education.
