Junior IT Project Manager

About the role:


Here at Babcock International we are recruiting for a Junior Project Manager to join an established projects team at our offices in the Lakeside Development, Portsmouth.  


As a Junior Project Manager you will work on a variety of small to medium IT based projects and work alongside Senior Project Managers on larger scale projects. This is a busy team and you will have some IT project experience and have the opportunity to expand this further.

What do I need to do the role?


As a Project Manager you will have experience of working as a part of a project delivery team within an IT environment, either in the capacity of a Junior PM, Project Associate or Project Manager. We would also like you to have knowledge and experience in all or some of these areas;


  • Knowledge and experience of current IT technology, products and services
  • APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) or equivalent
  • Knowledge of infrastructure technologies desirable, including : Server infrastructure, Firewalling and security, Networking – WAN and LAN, CISCO infrastructure – routers / switches
  • Knowledge of application technologies and processes desirable, including : HR, Payroll, finance and ERP systems (preferably SAP) and Data migrations


As an individual you will be someone who has strong leadership potential, able to speak effectively in front of stakeholders. You will have the determination to own problems and see through to resolution and be capable of working on your own initiative. It will be key to be able to work collaboratively with others in the department and across the Group, and be comfortable working across a multi-disciplined environment and under pressure.


What else do I need to know?


  • You must be able to obtain SC clearance for this role.
  • Some travel will be required with some overnight stays away from home.


  • This role is based in Lakeside, Portsmouth. A vibrant and accessible campus that has shops, restaurants, hairdressers and a nursery on site. It has parking for employees and runs a free shuttle bus from city centre trains and bus stops.
