Job Title:  HR Administrator

Reports to:  HR Admin Supervisors

Roles Reporting to this role: none


Location:  Lakeside, Portsmouth

Business Stream: Land Central

No. of Direct Reports: none

Purpose of role:   To carry out transactional HR activity on HR Administrative and Payroll processes and respond to enquiries; in accordance with legislation, suggested best practice and Babcock procedures and guidelines.

  • Awareness of HR policy & procedures
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Understanding of Data Protection legislation as it affects the role, and IAMM requirements

  • GCSE Maths & English





  • Collate and check monthly payroll submissions from line manager submissions
  • Prepare and mail all letters required as a result of payroll and other HR actions
  • Update attendance records on HR System and include on payroll spreadsheets if required
  • Respond to first line HR administrative queries as appropriate, e.g. face to face or via email or telephone, written correspondence
  • Ensure all employee information is processed accurately and checked
  • Maintain accurate systems information within scope of role and in line with current data protection legislation
  • Maintain all deadlines, promises and action plans communicated to management, customers or required by process.
  • Refer queries to the HR Senior Administrator as required
  • Process all requests effectively, accurately and efficiently and in accordance with procedures.
  • Provide basic information on policies and procedures to line managers, employees and HR Advisors.
  • Any other HR related duties at request of Manager or Senior Administrator
  • Protecting assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998

  • Monthly Payrolls submitted accurately and on time
  • All HR actions approved in line with issued authority list, procedures and guidelines.
