Babcock International Group owns and operates the main refit, maintenance and workshop area of the 330 acre naval site at Devonport, known as Devonport Royal Dockyard, where it employs thousands of people. The remainder of the site at Devonport is owned by the Ministry of Defence and is known as Her Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Devonport – one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe.

 

Babcock and the Ministry of Defence work in partnership to operate and maintain this co-located site by providing through-life support for submarines, surface ships and associated systems and equipment.


About the Role

This role sits within the Naval Nuclear Central Procurement Team, who provide procurement support through a commodity based structure to the embedded Supply Chain Procurement Teams within the business units.

In this role, the successful candidate will drive subcontractor value and supplier performance within Devonport services; ensuring optimal service delivery into the wider business.

 

This is a role where you will utilise your excellent strategic thinking, commercial and relationship skills to help transform performance and value in Babcock supply chain though, sustainable business plans with our service suppliers.

 

Reporting to the Head of Procurement services, focusing on development of;

  • Subcontractor management
  • Supplier performance
  • SRM/SPM strategies to drive overall value in key service delivery sub-categories/contracts.

What do I need to do the role?

  • Experience in managing Indirect spend categories and/or subcontract performance management (Facilities Management, Engineering services, Industrial services)
  • Understanding of contract terms and conditions, including flow-down terms from customer contracts
  • Defence sector or similar experience – desirable
  • MCIPS qualified or equivalent – desirable

This role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard which is located in the vibrant city of Plymouth, Devon in the south west of England.
