About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Strategic Programme Procurement Specialist.


The Site Infrastructure Procurement Team forms part of the Procurement and Supply Chain function within the Naval Nuclear sector of Babcock International Group. The team supports the delivery of extensive and diverse infrastructure upgrades and improvements across the entire Devonport Site and beyond. A significant, recent commitment to invest in site improvement necessitates expansion of the existing core team to accommodate delivery.
 
Main Purpose of Role:
You will be responsible for leading commercial and procurement activities across a variety of projects. Reporting into the Programme Procurement Manager, the role will be solely focused on complex, high value procurement activities and you’ll be responsible for driving through commercial and procurement best practice throughout the project lifecycle. You will also be responsible for establishing project requirements and delivering suitable supply chain solutions whilst supporting project delivery through the robust management of contract and supplier performance.

 

What do I need to do the role?
You’ll need to be qualified to degree level or equivalent, MCIPS or equivalent qualification and ideally NEC contract knowledge is preferable.

 

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of the following:
• A highly experienced procurement/commercial practitioner
• Demonstrable experience in effectively leading high value, complex sub-contracts
• Experienced in the application of best practice procurement principles/techniques
• Strong commercial acumen
• Clear understanding of terms & conditions and comfortable with negotiating changes to them

 

Lastly you’ll need proven ability to negotiate with and manage subcontractors, including effective supplier relationship management.
