About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for a Shift Manager Authorised Person in Control (SMAPC) to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.


The HV Operation within the Estates department is responsible for operating and maintaining high voltage electrical supplies across Devonport Royal Dockyard and the safe operation of the three high voltage networks installed at the site.


As an SMAPC you’ll be responsible for the operation monitoring and control of all HV Electrical Systems within Devonport Royal Dockyard as the Authorised Person in Control. You’ll take responsibility for the management of the CFCS Control Room, HV Authorised Person and the CFCS and Industrial Operations Staff. You’ll ensure the safe operation and maintenance of plant and systems under your control and the issue of Safety Documentation to cover all switching, commissioning, testing and maintenance for plant and equipment under your control.


What do I need to do the role?
You'll hold a minimum of ONC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering and have experience in the safe operation/maintenance of High and Low voltage equipment. Significant experience as an HV Authorised Person is essential for this position.

 

What else do I need to know?
This postion attracts a shift allowance of 40% on all conditioned hours worked. Some overtime is also built into the shift pattern and

 

The SMAPC will work a 5 week shift pattern, as part of a 5 person team. This will involve day, back (evening) and night shift working, along with a rest and relief weeks. This shift provides 24/7 cover.

 

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
