About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Supply Chain Development Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.


Babcock’s Naval Nuclear Supply Chain Strategy and Governance Team provide support to both the overall functional team and the business. The Senior Supply Chain Development Manager post is a newly created role requiring the successful candidate to drive the creation and execution of Strategy and Governance, ensuring performance enhancement into the wider business.


As the Senior Supply Chain Development Manager you’ll utilise your excellent strategic thinking skills and significant commercial and change management experience to help transform performance and value within the Babcock Supply Chain. You’ll be primarily focused on the development of key strategies and continuous improvement, managing the governance and performance of the functional outcomes. You’ll lead the implementation of new systems, processes and supply chain networks, including design and development of supply chains, for both new and existing programmes in conjunction with business stakeholders.

 

What do I need to do the role?
You’ll be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Significant experience in Supply Chain leadership and Supply Chain Design; Change Management and Continuous Improvement Methodologies is essential for this post.


We would also like you to have the following:

  • MCIPS, CBIFM or equivalent professional accreditation
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher
  • Project Management experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing in highly pressurised environments
  • Good application of current risk management methodology

Lastly, this strategic role is largely stakeholder based, so you’ll need strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to manage and interface effectively with stakeholders, including producing and delivering Presentations and Business Cases up to Director level.


What else do I need to know?

  • Devonport Royal Dockyard will be your primary place of work however travel to alternative sites and suppliers will be required.
  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
