Senior Project Engineer
Devonport, Plymouth
Salary - £36,525 - £40,995
About the role

Here at Babcock International we’re looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The Facilities Engineering Programme Management Office (FE-PMO) provides a planning and project controls service to the Facilities Engineering design team. As a Senior Project Engineer you'll provide an interface between the internal customer and design / safety engineering teams and support nuclear facility projects, to include start up, development of the PM Plan, WBS and project schedules.
Using your experience in facility upgrade or construction projects you will expedite the project initiation process and support the estimation of work packages. In line with the Annual Plan process, you'll be responsible for providing the link between Facilities Engineering and our internal customer: capturing facility requirements, integration with the boat programmes and reporting ongoing performance of Facility Projects to all key stakeholders. You'll also be responsible for creating and managing the start-up tasks required for dock Outage works: including the management and production of Initial Baseline Document’s and maintaining links for Project schedule’s and stakeholder engagement.
This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and assist in the delivery of Defence design and safety engineering projects, with opportunities for further development and progression within the Company.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need an HNC / HND or equivalent in a STEM based subject (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or suitable appropriate experience in Project Engineering / Project Controls. APM PFQ or PMQ qualifications are also desirable, but not mandatory.
We would also like you to have demonstrable experience in facility upgrade or construction projects and stakeholder engagement, with an understanding and experience in Project Planning, Estimating and Project Controls.
Lastly, you’ll need effective writing and presentation skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

What else do I need to know?
• The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, national Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
