Who we are looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Project Management Office (PMO) with responsibility for the delivery of project cost control services across the Nuclear Facilities Maintenance Programme (£20m-£30m per annum). The Nuclear Facilities Maintenance Programme is experiencing considerable growth as part of the Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) contract and significant CAPEX investment programme. This is an exciting opportunity to become a part of a highly capable and motivated team as we continue to grow and deliver complex outputs in support of the UK submarine programme. This role will suit candidates with a background in finance, accountancy, project management and project controls; looking for a change in direction and a strong desire to develop themselves, as well as people with existing project experience as a project cost engineer.

 

What will you be doing?
Covering a wide range of projects, the successful candidates shall be responsible for providing professional Cost Control and Cost Management services across the Nuclear Facilities Maintenance Programme. The role will provide a key interface between commercial, engineering, construction, projects and supply chain functions to aid the effective cost performance of the projects undertaken. Other responsibilities may include:
•    Assisting the Project/Programme Managers in all aspects of Project Cost Control
•    Prepare and deliver all necessary internal and external cost control reports and documentation (including monthly CAPEX finance submissions)
•    Coordinate and develop project/programme annual-spend projections, cost reconciliations and variance analyses
•    Coordinate and develop project work-in-progress (WIP), commitment and estimate at complete (EAC) forecasts

 

The experience you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced accountant who has an ambition to go in to Project Management. Someone with a finance background but no project management to date. 

 

The following attributes are considered essential for this role:
•    BSc, BEng, MEng or equivalent experience in engineering / project / construction management / finance or other related field
•    A postgraduate qualification is also desirable, as is membership of a professional body
•    Awareness of various contracting methodologies (e.g FIDIC/NEC3/JCT etc…)
•    Advanced knowledge of cost management techniques
•    Have intermediate to advanced Excel skills, good knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
•    Have a professional qualification (e.g APM/ACOSTE/RICS or equivalent)

 

You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
