Senior Engineering Manager - Strategic Weapon Systems

Based at Bristol, Devonport or Clyde

 

Babcock International Group, a leading engineering support services company, is currently looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Chartered Engineer to represent, within a collaborative team, Babcock’s contribution to the Submarine Delivery Agency’s (SDA) Strategic Weapon Enterprise (SWE).

Overall Department Direction

Babcock Naval Marine - Engineering Services (ES) provides engineering management and technical support services to enable the delivery of the Company’s key contracted outputs to the MoD, essentially to deliver available and capable platforms for the Royal Navy.  Maritime Mission Systems Group within ES contains both Strategic and Combat Systems Engineers who provide engineering support services to the MoD in addition to providing organic engineering support to the wider Babcock Marine Sector across multiple sites

Main Purpose of Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced engineer to play a key role in Babcock’s contribution to the Submarine Strategic Weapon Enterprise. Key elements of the post are:

  • To represent Babcock within a multi-industry team under MoD leadership, to work within this team to help the Enterprise to successfully deliver and de-risk future programmes
  • To work effectively and collaboratively with industry partners within the Strategic Weapon Enterprise
  • To act as an internal Babcock subject matter expert for Submarine Strategic Systems, providing advice and facilitating coherent information exchange to support cross business outputs

 

Required Knowledge, Skills,   Experience and Competences

  • Knowledge of Submarine Strategic Weapon System activities including programme, policies, procedures, technologies, equipment, support, and operations
  • Recent experience of working with MoD/RN/industry at an appropriate management level
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills

 

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer

  • The Location for the role is in the Bristol area, embedded within the Submarine Delivery Agency team although there are options available for operating away from a ‘home base’ location, which can be in either Devonport, Bristol area, or the Clyde region.
