About the role
The Power Distribution & Standby Generation (PDSG) Team within Engineering and Technology Services provides through life technical support and design consultancy to the private Electrical Power Distribution Network for Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Under the technical support function, the team provides technical and asset management advice to the ongoing operations and maintenance of the extant assets, equipment and facilities, and acts as custodian of the technical information/documentation.

The design consultancy activities generally focus on the provision of new, or modification to the Electrical Power Distribution Network, as well as injection of new capabilities and undertaking life extensions activities. This entails the application of design lifecycle processes, undertaking a variety of defined activities and deliverables, and following the appropriate levels of technical governance.

The Senior EC&I Engineer – SCADA, role is a technical lead role responsible for through life technical support on the design intent, asset condition and configuration of the remote control and monitoring elements of the Electrical Power Distribution Network, as well as the design lead for remote control and monitoring elements on electrical distribution design projects that require remote operation/monitoring functionality.

What do I need to do the role?

You'll need to be technically competent in Remote Control & Monitoring Systems including:
• Implementation & technical through life support to Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems
• Programmable Logic Controllers
• Remote Telemetry Units
• Configuration & support to Servers and Computer Based Systems
• Communication networks and protocols
• Instrumentation for electrical plant


We would also like you to hold strong leadership skills,  the ability to undertake lead engineer role in accordance with company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Safety and Quality requirements, a degree in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline and an appropriate Professional Registration with the relevant professional engineering institution or working towards.


What else do I need to know?
• The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.

• This role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard which is located in Plymouth, Devon in the south west of England.
