About the role

Babcock Naval Division is the UK's leading naval support business. Our experience draws on an unmatched range of engineering and technical skills in providing naval base management and shipbuilding to the Royal Navy's submarines and surface ships, in addition to operating a wide range of strategic shore-based naval support facilities.

 

Babcock's Devonport Royal Dockyard facility is co-located with HM Naval Base Devonport to form the largest naval support site in Western Europe. Babcock’s facilities at Devonport include the UK’s sole licensed site for the refitting and refuel/defuel of nuclear-powered submarines, where Trafalgar and Vanguard-Class submarines undergo major refits and upgrades. 

 

Due to the continual growth across the site, we are recruiting a Resourcing Lead to join the team and be responsible for working with the Naval Nuclear & Marine Resourcing Director to set the site wide resourcing strategy. This will encompass the delivery of our recruitment partners for industrial and non-industrial roles with both permanent and temporary resource across two sectors: Naval Nuclear and Naval Marine within our Devonport site. 

 

You will work closely with Directors and Senior Managers across the business to understand future workforce demands for all permanent, including graduate and apprentice, and temporary recruitment.  Also, you will be responsible for leading the team to work closely with our recruitment partners to ensure they are delivering a professional, effective and timely service which meets the needs of the business.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the team to ensure effective delivery of industrial and non-industrial recruitment for both permanent and contingent demand which is in line with SLA’s.
• Leading on the resourcing of graduate and apprentice recruitment including review of annual campaigns to ensure they are engaging and fit for purpose.
• Collaborative stakeholder engagement at all levels across the site.
• Developing and maintaining a strong relationships with senior managers, the wider business and recruitment partners.
• Identification and liaison with functional and operational management to implement and develop resourcing strategies appropriate to each business unit need/requirement whilst remaining consistent with overall policy/procedure.
• Awareness of the labour market conditions and review internal employee turnover trends which will enable recommendations to the company’s recruitment and reward strategies which adapt to changing market conditions.
• Leading the team to develop close working relationships with recruitment partners and business units to support the delivery of the company’s objectives and strategies by increasing the diversity of new recruits.
• Influencing and supporting the improvement of the ‘on-boarding’ process at a site-wide level.
• Network with appropriate professional engineering bodies/institutions/communities to ensure a throughput of candidates/applicants. In a variety of methods, including engineering institutes, local networking events, industry/sector networking.
• Supporting the workforce planning process ensuring that recruitment plans and communication with recruitment partners are aligned.

What do I need to do the role?
• Recognised HR qualification (L7 CIPD) or equivalent, preferred
• Proven track record of delivering sourcing strategies in a relevant HR function
• Experienced in recruitment (ideally in-house) and talent assessments
• A target driven individual with a proven track record
• Proactive work ethic with attention to detail
• Pro-active, able to work on own initiative with minimal guidance and support
• Ability to see the big picture and to propose practical intervention
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, change and political situations
• Ability to develop and build relationships at all levels within the organisation internally and externally
• Understanding of data and analytics with an ability to demonstrate to others its impact and return on investment.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage conflicting priorities coupled with effective time management
• High degree of analytical skills

 

What else do I need to know?
You will work 36 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexible working and you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
