The Marine Division employ over 9,000 highly skilled people and is the UK's leading naval support business. Energy & Marine Technology is a business unit within the Marine Division of Babcock International Group. E&MT is a leading technical services consultancy providing naval architecture, marine, system engineering, electrical engineering design and project support services to the offshore, marine and defence markets worldwide.  Within this business unit, Naval Engineering have vast experience in engineering, construction, concept design and through life support for a wide range of front line naval and auxiliary support vessels.

 

E&MT offers the opportunity to work on interesting and varied design and engineering projects supporting defence and commercial clients in the UK and internationally. E&MT operates in five locations within the UK including Rosyth, Edinburgh, Tyneside, Bristol and Plymouth, as well as having employees based internationally. Main Purpose of Role

 

  • Provide daily support in the creation, maintenance and reporting of various project plans and to take an active role in the control and forward planning of work for different teams within E&MT.

 

  • Run regular meetings with project teams, providing focused outputs before the meeting to highlight tasks and items that require attention and providing accurate and timely updates to the discussed plans.

 

  • Produce reports as necessary to support the Project Managers and Resource Owners in managing the projects to monitor, analyse and report comprehensive progress and trends including Earned Value Analysis and Key Performance Indicators.

  • Liaise with the project team regarding budgetary control & resource estimates to ensure accurate understanding of the future demand loadings.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences

 

  • Demonstrable good working knowledge of the Primavera P6 planning tool and experience in the application of planning practices and processes
  • Highly proficient in advanced MS Excel features including VBA & Formulae with good knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and administrative skills
  • Assertive with determination to see jobs through to completion
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work accurately and within strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of ‘Project Estimating & Production System’ PEPS is desirable but not essential.

 

Qualifications

 

Educated to ONC standard or equivalent level.

 

Security

 

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.

 

Grade

 

This position is within the Energy & Marine Technology business unit as a grade 3 which has a salary of £29,370 with DRDL Terms and Conditions.

This role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard which is located in the vibrant city of Plymouth, Devon. Plymouth is a city with a long and proud military history and more than its fair share of heritage.
