About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for Project Managers to join us at HMNB Devonport. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

 

We are looking for enthusiastic, highly-motivated and innovative individuals who want to experience being part of a major Submarine project from the beginning. The HMS Victorious / V-Class Submarine refits are highly complex engineering projects with plenty of challenges that will test your problem solving skills. We want people to challenge the norms and think outside the box, implementing changes where appropriate and applicable.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join HMS Victorious DMP Planning team as a Project Manager (Zone). Using your extensive experience of leading significant engineering projects you'll manage the project deliverables for the allocated Zone. This will include but won’t be limited to: - the review and challenge of DAR specification; schedule development and associated labour profiles; stakeholder engagement with MoD, key subcontractors and the wider business; responsible for the financial aspects of the DMP planning contract, including establishing appropriate project controls and metrics within the Zone( including new approaches for EVM & Cost Control); reporting on progress to the Programme Manager, identifying shortfalls that may jeopardise the successful completion of project objectives within the Zone; supporting the development of the execution contract commercial approach and readiness for project execution


What do I need to be able to do the role?
You'll be educated to Degree level in an Engineering discipline and hold relevant APM / Project Management Qualifications.

 

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Experience of the operations, refit or repair of Nuclear Submarines
  • Significant Project Management experience
  • NSQAC

Lastly, you’ll need to be able to deploy strong interpersonal and communications skills (both verbal and written) and have the ability to operate and interface effectively with Senior Managers, internal and external stakeholders and the MoD customer.


What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, national Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
