About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for a Programme Support Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

 

The Submarine Capability Sustainment Programme (SMCSP) is aligned with the Submarine Support Strategic Priorities and is trusted to deliver Submarine Capability Sustainment for special programmes and projects. As the SMCSP Programme Support Manager you’ll provide value and capability to the customer in Project Management activity and the delivery of complex submarine platform & combat systems and equipment.

 

Using your significant experience in project management activities of combat systems and equipment development, operation and maintenance you’ll be tasked with the development and production of Programme level documentation for programmes and projects within SM Capability Sustainment Programme (Combat Systems) and the subset Vanguard Class Capability Sustainment Programme.


You’ll support the Head of SMCSP in assisting the MoD Customer to develop support strategies, and also in identifying and developing opportunities for future SMCSP projects which will enhance capability to submarines. whilst managing and balancing the risk of embodiment.

 

What do I need to be able to do the role?
You'll be educated to minimum HNC level in an appropriate engineering discipline - in exceptional circumstances a lower level of qualification may be acceptable provided the post holder has substantial and relevant experience of Submarine Combat Systems.


We would also like you to have the following:

  • Strong Project Management awareness and acuity developed from either formal training or practical experience. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and SharePoint)
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills.

Lastly, you’ll need to be able to deploy effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and have the ability to interface capably with both internal and external stakeholders and the MoD customer.

 

What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, national Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
