About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for a Production Support Engineer (NDE Document Controller) to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

 

As a Production Support Engineer (NDE Document Controller) you’ll work within the Submarine Production team which is based within the Submarine Refit Complex (SRC) at Devonport. You'll be responsible for the production and storage of compliant documents to achieve programme, quality and safety targets. You’ll ensure all NDE requests are actioned to SLA and all quality documentation is completed in accordance with corporate procedures. You’ll also update and maintain the Production database.


What do I need to do the role?
A Constructive trade qualification is highly desirable together with experience of Submarine refit/repair processes involving all classes of structure. Experience of document control procedures, including documentation' close out' is highly advantageous.

 

We would also like you to have some or all of the following:

  • Knowledge of HSR/DEF-STANS
  • PEPS and Windows IT skills
  • Experience in data management and composition
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Product safety knowledge and competency.

Lastly, this position requires someone who has a strong team ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

 

What else do I need to know?
• The post-holder may be required to work on-board Submarines in radiological areas and in confined spaces.
• There may be a requirement for shift-work and overtime.
• The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, national Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
• Passport, licences and qualification documentation must be presented at interview stage.
