Babcock is currently recruiting an experienced engineer with a strong marine engineering background is required to fulfil the role of FTE (W) Package Manager.

Reporting to the FTE Planning Manager, the post holder will be required to co-ordinate and manage all planning and production activities from receipt of allocated work items and packages through to completion of all tasks within the FTE Support team. 

You will act as the main point of contact for the overall management of programmed and un-programmed work packages, both within FTE and externally for the Class Output Management team (COM) and ships’ staff.

Manage the planning, estimating, delivery, close out and archiving of planned Fleet Time Support Period (FTSP) work packages, unplanned work (UPW), Alterations & Additions (A&As) and Deployed Support Periods (DSP).

Chair and facilitate FTSP Service Provider Meetings (including Take-on, Plan of the Day, Weekly Progress and Close-out Meetings).

Identify and de-conflict other work on board to ensure success of the FTSP/UPW/DSP & A&As without detriment to the whole ship’s programme.

Sub-contractor management and liaison with customers and suppliers.

Identify and evaluate additional/emergent work and to liaise with the FTE Managers and the COM to agree any impacts, resource requirements and targets for such work.

Manage and control the budget for the work package(s) reporting any growth.

Oversee the health and safety and environmental requirements of all stakeholders and contractors working onboard, as detailed in the respective FTE Plans.

What do I need to do the role?

  • A HNC/HND in an Engineering/Technical subject, or equivalent experience in an engineering role.
  • Excellent teamwork, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the drive and enthusiasm to work in a challenging role within a busy and highly successful team. 
  • Computer literacy skills are also required.

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
