About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit two new Package & Interface Managers.

 

The Factory Group primarily exists to support Surface Ship and Submarine refit projects on the Devonport site. In addition to this, the factory undertakes commercial work as well as work for other Babcock sites including nuclear and non-nuclear related infrastructure. The Programme Management department exists to ensure the correct level of resources are available within the factory at all times to optimise the service offered to all of the respective factory customers and ensure the most efficient and cost effective production methods are utilised.

 

Main Purpose of Role:
This is an exciting and new opportunity to continually shape and develop the pivotal role of Package & Interface Manager (PIM) within the Factory Group. Working within a small team of PIM’s, you will manage the customer interface between the Factory and Project Teams or Site Business (new and existing) including identification and monitoring of project risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement response to these and respond to other issues that affect the project. You will ensure that their requirements are clearly communicated, in a timely manner, to the Master Scheduler to allow detailed planning at a work cell level to be undertaken prior to the arrival of demand into the factory.

 

The PIM will liaise between the Factory and the respective customer to ensure correct prioritisation of equipment. You will represent the Factory at Project progress meetings where you will assist in the Sub-Contract / In house manufacture decisions as well as assisting in the scheduling of alterations and additional work requirements using sound engineering principles and a demonstrable ability to read engineering drawings and specifications. You will agree dates for the repair and overhaul of equipment’s, and contribute to the content of service level agreements and any alteration or additions to order’s based upon the Factory Capacity Plan. You will update customers with progress and outstanding issues. You will manage Variation Orders and take ownership of the total project shop expenditure.

 

You’ll need to coordinate activities to evaluate and resolve engineering-related production problems, review production schedules, orders and related information to maintain all activities in your assigned projects. Duties include ensuring all materials are ordered in time to meet schedule requirements including the shop Advanced Material Requirements, supporting the development of and presenting accurate and up to date financial and scheduled KPI’s to ensure the project is accurately planned and reported. All LFE will be captured, highlighted and communicated to respective teams.

 

What do I need to do the role?
You’ll need knowledge of Warships, PM experience (financial background) and an engineering background (electrical/mechanical).

 

What else do I need to know?
• The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
