Overall Department Direction
This is an exciting opportunity to assist in the management of the company's Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system, including compliance with the Nuclear Site Licence Condition (SLC) 28,, for all nuclear and non-nuclear assets. To be a main contributor to the transformation team in changing Babcock’s Maintenance to meet the internal Asset Analytics modernisation programme and the customers’ expectations for the forthcoming FMSP contract


Main Purpose of Role


  • Manage a Computerised Maintenance Management System for all Babcock Devonport Departments.
  • Project Manage new CAFM/IFS Projects – including analysing requirements, making recommendations of cost effective solution implementation.
  • Effectively produce suitable ongoing training and refresher training schedules, then manage and deliver to all new and current CAFM/IFS end users.
  • Instigate, review, propose and implement improvements of the CAFM/IFS system, to achieve business goals and by giving improved cost effectiveness of the maintenance of company’s assets.
  • Analyse process and maintenance deficiencies devising training strategies to resolve issues.


What do I need to do the role?


We are looking for someone who is experienced in computerised maintenance engineering, facilities management and field servicing, that has a good grounding in IT driven business analysis and software development.


You should have project management skills (including scheduling of resources and budget maintenance) and be familiar with integration techniques and Electronic Data Interface (EDI). You should also have the ability to report at Senior Management level, with consultants and the client environment.


You must keep general technical competence and specialisation up to date with industry developments and  demonstrate understanding of Babcock business areas so that technical options and solutions are always relevant.

You should also have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and able to adapt readily




  • Understanding of relational databases & Database System Administration.
  • Must have experience with programming technologies, VB, VBA, Java & SQL Windows.
  • Must have experience of Report Development Applications & MS Office Suite.
  • A sound knowledge of CAFM/IFS functionality is preferred.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of maintenance operations, including material management, Labour, financial and work flow are essential and knowledge of computer hardware, networks and databases.
  • Knowledge of widely accepted and resource management practices and software such as Primavera and MS project. Experience in software development lifecycle, data modelling, data exchange and data load/migration.


Lastly, you will need a Degree or equivalent experience (HND/C in a computing related or engineering discipline and proven experience of database systems administration or other information services specialisation)
