Functional Estimator

Permanent, Full-time

About the role  

Babcock International are looking to recruit Functional Estimators to join our skilled team working within the Warships Estimating Department at Devonport Royal Dockyard.


As Functional Estimator you’ll be primarily responsible for developing labour and material requirements of all trades, through interrogation of the client’s specification, technical drawings and equipment configuration systems.  You will also be required to create and enter technical operations for use within the Project’s execution. There are elements of working on your own initiative and liaising with other departments. On the job training will be provided to the successful candidate

Ensuring that the Royal Navy and Babcock has the right facilities and infrastructure is an absolutely essential role – both in maintaining and sustaining our existing facilities and developing new infrastructure.


What do I need to do the role?  

You’ll need to come from an Electrical, Mechanical or Constructive background.


We would also like you to have experience in all or some of the following areas:  

  • ONC or equivalent qualification
  • A trade-based Apprenticeship or demonstrable qualification
  • experience gained within an Engineering or Estimating discipline
  • the ability to formulate estimates across all trade disciplines


What else do I need to know?

  • The role is based at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, Devon. 
  • The anticipated salary for this role is £30,555 per annum.

  • Successful candidates must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
