We are looking for a number of Finance Managers to join us within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

 

The difference our new Finance Manager will make


As a Finance Manager you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be working within our nuclear sector business which includes submarines, submarine support, infrastructure, corporate services and specialist transformation and strategic development. 

 

Day to day, you’ll line manage the finance team; deputise for the Head of Finance and support the preparation of the technical accounting papers for revenue recognition. As well as report to the senior finance team the actual and forecast P & L, balance sheet extracts, operating cash flow and orderbook with variance analysis and recommendations for the relevant area of the business unit. You’ll attend key meetings with the business management teams and provide guidance, challenge and support; interact with key support functions, operational leads and other Finance Managers across the business.

Essential experience

 

•    Qualified Accountant - The role requires an individual with demonstratable previous experience within a finance manager/business partnering and financial reporting role within a large corporation
•    ACA/ACMA/ACCA qualification
•    IFRS 15 long term contract accounting knowledge
•    Detailed knowledge of financial systems
•    Strong Excel and data analysis skills
•    Experience of managing and implementing change 
•    You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
