About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Contracts Manager.


This role is within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. The Marine Sector delivers a wide array of complex through-life marine engineering services. Ranging from UK and international naval fleet support, commercial marine, engineering consultancy, weapons handling, equipment support, intelligence, cyber security, Infrastructure Programmes and training delivered through unique owned and managed infrastructure to defence and civil customers across the globe.

Main Purpose of Role:

As part of the Major Infrastructure Project corporate objectives, you’ll support the development of 15 Dock facilities to support the future submarine programmes. In addition you’ll provide commercial support to the Head of Naval Bases for all Estates related activities under the MSDF and FMSP contracts.


Other duties will include driving commercial excellence across contracts and projects, to protect Babcock with regard to the acceptability of terms and conditions and to provide guidance, advice, diligence and instruction supporting the tendering, negotiating and placing of subcontracts performed by direct reports, preparing prime contract submissions, acting as the lead commercial interface with the customer post tender submission to contract award and being responsible for maintaining the optimum relationship with the Authority providing contract management support to MSDF and other prime contract agreements as required. As a SME, you’ll provide guidance across all contracts in their specialism.


What do I need to do the role?

• You’ll need to be educated to Degree / HNC / HND level or equivalent in a subject related to construction, business, business law or commercial law. Knowledge of building and construction and NEC 4 Experience is essential

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of the following:

• Demonstrable experience in contract administration
• Ability to identify commercial risks, propose steps to mitigate and communicate such effectively. 
• Must possess excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise workload.
• Must have experience of leading and developing a team of people from middle to lower management


What else do I need to know?
• The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
• The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.  This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
• Successful candidates may be required to complete a medical assessment.
