About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for an Apprentice Development Manager (Electrical) to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

As an Apprentice Development Manager at Babcock you’ll assess the competence of apprentices and adult trainees against the approved apprenticeship framework or standard, and will act as the apprentices reviewing manager. Drawing on your substantial experience gained in a Marine Engineering team environment you’ll assist with the recruitment and selection of future apprentices; liaise with colleges and awarding organisations; arrange suitable work placements; assess on the job and knowledge competence; monitor progress towards targets, as well as being responsible for apprentice disciplinary and attendance management.

What do I need to do the role?
You’ll have completed a recognised Electrical based apprenticeship in Marine Engineering and possess a sound understanding of the engineering practices and standards required in the marine industry. An NVQ L3 in Advice & Guidance is also required, however this may be completed as part of the training for this post.

We would also like you to have some or all of the following:
• NVQ Assessor qualification (although training will be provided if required).
• Previous experience of mentoring apprentices would be an advantage but not essential.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
• Excellent organisational skills

You’ll also need to be a flexible team-player, motivated to deliver a professional service at all times; you'll need to be able to deploy excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as you’ll be liaising regularly with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the business.

What else do I need to know?
• The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, security clearance at the appropriate level for this post, including undergoing Police background checks.
• Verification of qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
• This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive annual salary and benefits commensurate to the post.
