In this role, you will:

 

  • Focus on project delivery, utilizing skills and experience to coordinate and accelerate activities to meet or better the project cost and schedule targets
  • Lead, coordinate and develop staff, ensuring the team are utilized and deployed effectively and employee performance & motivation are maximized to meet organisational standards and requirements.
  • Manage and develop effective relationships with our Customer and key stakeholders to enhance two-way communication, build an understanding of customer priorities and objectives and so improve integration and alignment of stakeholder organizations
  • Ensure resource demands and priorities are communicated to matrix resources including the Project Management Office and other departments as required
  • Actively manage project scope, schedule, cost and quality while following the applicable processes and procedures
    • Establish budgets and forecasts and subsequently manage activities to remain within the budget 
    • Make early predictions of any overspends against budget and apply mitigation actions
  • Develop and actively manage project risks in consultation with the Project Management Office
  • Maintain the quality of the product delivered to our Customer 
  • Develop and deliver appropriate project progress and status reports
  • Complete other duties as necessary 

 

As our ideal candidate:

 

  • You hold a PMP Certification with Project Management Institute
  • You have a minimum 8 years’ experience within the last 12 years in Project Management of defence systems contracts; minimum of 10 years’ experience in the last 15 years performing project management of defence systems contracts without PMP.
  • You have 3 years of naval project management experience within your corresponding minimum of 8 or 10 years’ experience as per above.
  • You display a sound working knowledge of Project Management Principles and understand what the requirements of the business are to successfully lead the project team
  • You have experience communicating effectively with executives, senior managers, customers, and stakeholders 
  • You have excellent verbal and written communications skills, including presentation in front of groups
  • You have advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint and a working familiarity with at least one version of common scheduling software
  • You have a broad engineering/technical background (an asset)
  • You have Submarine experience (an asset)
  • You are bilingual (an asset)
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
