In this role, you will:

 

  • Work closely and provide support to the Program Manager – Platform Systems & Project Support and the Program Manager – Combat Systems & Maintenance in the following In-Service Support areas, but not limited to:
    • Identifying submarine sustainment requirements, communicating these requirements to stakeholders and translating them into actionable goals
    • Program planning, including the development of annual combat and platform program management plans, annual operating plans, and long term plans aimed at satisfying Victoria Class In Service Support Contract (VISSC) objectives and customer needs.
    • Program management, ensuring alignment of sustainment deliverables to program outcomes, and within VISSC program constraints.
  • Coordinate and lead the Platform and Combat Systems Program update and submission of the VISSC Monthly Progress Report to the customer.
  • Design, implement and optimize project solutions as sustainment activities under VISSC, to produce the most cost effective and value adding result for Canada. This requires liaison with our customer for:
    • general configuration management
    • waterfront tasks
  • Inform and support the program planner’s maintenance of a consolidated emergent work (EW) schedule that draws together all individual EW task schedules and monitors their progress against Class Plan milestones, identifying the critical path against each key milestone.
  • Participate in, and support, program risk management activities including administrative support to hazard management groups, as well as hazard and action management.
  • Monitor and assist close out of Babcock Actions in the Hazard Management System (CGR) for:
    • platform systems
    • combat systems
  • Manage the development and upkeep of processes and work instructions essential to the conduct of VISSC program management.
  • Provide project management support to the PM VISSC team if required.
  • Act as a designate for the program managers in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

 

As our ideal candidate,

 

  • You have proven subject matter expertise of the Department of National Defence’s In-Service Support processes (preferably with submarine experience)
  • You have 4-8 years project management experience in a complex project environment, preferably within the Defence industry
  • You have formal Project Management training from a PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.)
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)® is highly desirable
  • You have a broad engineering/technical background with a diploma or degree in a related engineering field or equivalent experience/combined education, along with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with the role
  • You possess strong critical thinking skills
  • You are self-motivated and a results-oriented person
  • You have strong interpersonal skills that will support a variety of activities including internal team-building and external customer engagement
  • You have excellent verbal and written (technical) communications skills, including presentation in front of groups and the ability to communicate complex information to people at all organizational levels
  • Are eligible for a Canadian NATO Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
  • You are bilingual (an asset).
