The role
As an On Track Machine Driver, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be operating and driving on track machines within the required rules.  

 

Day to day, you will into the OTM supervisor and will be operating or driving the on-track machines. You will also service the machines and clean and fuel them and if any minor repairs are required they will also carry out those along-side the supervisor. 
  
1.    Operate and/or drive “On-Track” machines for which certification of competency has been obtained.
2.    Extensive route knowledge in Scotland required or willing to learn
3.    Carry out servicing, cleaning and fuelling of machines as directed and carry out minor repairs.
4.    Arrange to complete and return all associated paperwork.  This includes Phires Forms, signing of log-books and other documentation as required.

 

Essential experience of the On Track Machine Driver,
•    Train Driving licence essential.  PTS and DP would be useful.  Others as agreed to meet the requirements of the post.
•    Considerable experience as a train driver
•    Good knowledge of OTM operation. (advantageous)
•    Sound knowledge of track mechanised maintenance. (advantageous)
•    Good knowledge of Permanent Way Rules and Regulations, procedures and track safety rules. (advantageous)
•    Knowledge of Drivers Rules and Regulations. (essential)
•    Knowledge of required machine outputs in relation to track quality. (advantageous)
•    In depth knowledge of Permanent Way component parts. (advantageous)

 

35 hour week working mainly nights and weekends, working 8 days over 14. Full Time/Onsite

 

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
